Compression

Compression is the basis of every venous treatment. Varicose veins are caused by venous congestion in the legs. This high vein pressure can only be counteracted by pressure, compression, from outside. A good fitting compression stocking presses the vein to a certain degree together. Through this the venous valve can close again and the venous blood returns. The compression treatment is prescribed after sclerotherapy or varicose vein surgery.

Directly after treatment in the Vein Centre, each patient is given a perfect fitted compression stocking, which after consultation with the attending physician should be worn for two to six weeks thereafter. This is very important to the success of the treatment.

If a conservative, non-operative treatment is necessary, the patient can expect professional and conservative therapy with special bandage techniques, and consequently a sclerotherapy and laser therapy.
